December 14, 2016
Life has been a whirlwind and I cannot begin to believe that Christmas is eleven days away!
Let’s see, a catch up:
I have been in LA working with some incredibly talented people on a revival of Stephen Sondheim’s , rarely done “Merrily We Roll Along”. What an adventure. Sharing the stage with such talents as Wayne Brady, Donna Vivino, Aaron Lazar and Amir Talai, Saycon Sengbloch, and Whitney Bashor, plus an amazingly gifted ensemble! Lucky me, watching them every day for the past eight weeks do their thing. Working with the very talented Michael Arden as our director, Blake Silver, assistant Director, and Matt Gould and Adam Wachter as our musical Supervisor and Director, Eamon Foley as our Choreographer, and the incredible skills of our talented Stage Management team; TJ Kearney, Anne Hilt, and Kelsey Gilchrist has been indeed thrilling. I have loved being at the Wallis Annenberg Theater, what a gorgeous place and it’s creative team is super. It is literally a hop, skip and a jump from our place out here. I can walk to work and that has been divine! Thank you one and all.
I have enjoyed making so many new friends both on and off the stage, so my close to 2016 will leave me with a sense of some new wonder, joy and promise that 2017 will hopefully be a good year.
What’s in Store music has once again promoted my holiday music and that is getting airtime and I am grateful. Thank you Bob Catania!
Lanny just released his new album, Strange Meadowlark-Songs of Dave Brubeck. I got to sing several tracks on it. It was a great time learning them and making them happen. We will see what we can do with it and hopefully some jazz stations will take a listen to them.
As for the holidays: the show closes the end of this week and I am heading back to DC to celebrate the holidays with my wonderful family. I am looking forward to being together and just enjoying my favorite holiday. It certainly has been different being in glorious sunshine and hearing Silver Bells and Winter Wonderland while walking down palm tree lined streets, but hey, it is still the most wonderful time of the year!!
What’s next? For sure, February 24 and 25th Ever Blondeward will debut at the Gardenia Room so if you are in LA, please come out. This is my newest cabaret directed by Andrea Marcovicci. We had a great time putting it on it’s feet in DC in August. After that, hopefully some great audition opportunities and me figuring it out. Regardless, I have much to be thankful for and I know I am a lucky girl.
Peace and Joy to everyone!
Life is good, Sandy
