Your holiday album, This Christmas is timeless and a perfect soundtrack to everyone’s holiday season. How will you spend the upcoming holidays and are there any special traditions you look forward to each year?

I have always loved Christmas.  It is just a special time of the year for me.  I love buying gifts for the people I love and trying to find just the right thing.  I love the smells, decorating and of course, the music!  I love being with my kids and our family and we always try to be together with as many extended family members as possible.  We plan to do that again this year.  I will be in Washington, and home for the holidays!  Joy!!

You have had a successful career in theater. What is your favorite show and why?

Sandy Bainum “Peace/Silent Night”

Well, I have loved so many shows.  But, of course, “42nd Street” will always be very dear to my heart.  It was my first big show, and I was in the first National Tour, then I got to play a principal role on Broadway!  How much more can you ask for?? Also, some of my dearest friends were from that show and we all still truly love each other.  But, last year, I got the wonderful opportunity to play the glorious role of Mame Dennis in “Mame”!  I felt like I was born to play that role.  I loved her, and hope to visit her again sometime, somewhere.

If you could record a duet with anyone (living or deceased) who would it be and what track would you record?

Wow, this is a tough one.  I think Nat King Cole.  I loved the way he could express his emotions through interpreting lyrics and his voice was so soothing, yet sexy and appealing.  I would sing any song he asked, even if it was just to coo and oooh in the back!  Living … I think maybe Michael Buble’.  I think we’d sound good together.  As for a song, just ask?  I happen to be available.

What project(s) are you currently working on?

I am presently rehearsing a Sondheim musical in L.A., “Merrily We Roll Along,” and I have six tracks coming out on an album of Dave Brubeck songs. Some, that haven’t been done very often.

What’s in-store for you in 2017?

Hopefully, some great chances to work on my acting through stage, TV and film.   I have recently put together a new cabaret show called, “Ever Blondeward”  and it is a fun evening of great songs by some wonderful famous blondes.  It was directed by Andrea Marcovicci and has songs by Peggy Lee, Doris Day, Joni Mitchell and many more.  I am planning to do that in Los Angeles in early 2017.  And hopefully the Brubeck album will be released. Then, the sky is the limit.

 Music and performing are my oxygen.  I really love it.  But, I love my kids and husband and family too.  I feel lucky and fortunate to know what makes me tick and that I am able to do it.  Life is good.  Follow your dreams, even if at times the road seems bumpy!  Which can be often in this crazy business.”
